PPG Industries Inc.’s (PPG) industrial coatings business has launched a portable tool kit – TRENDCAST Styling Directions 2014. The tool is created in such a way that various designers of appliances, outdoor furniture, electronics, recreational equipment and other products can identify new colors and effects along with color directional information to effectively reach targeted markets around the world.
The colors in the TRENDCAST Styling Directions 2014 tool kit include the latest trends in colors, effects, and feels based on a consensus of 35 PPG global color experts from the Americas, Europe and Asia. The experts have analyzed the trends and consumer tastes and preferences across the product markets to identify the factors detrimental to the future color choice. This has resulted in a palette of textures and 38 colors, ranging from delicate pastels and soft neutrals to playful mixes of bold and bright tones. These are further organized under four distinct themes – Hi-Breed, Mosaic, Theorem and New Spirit.
TRENDCAST Styling Directions 2014 has a brochure covering global color trends and also contains a variety of tactile objects and effects which enable PPG’s customers to connect with consumers and provide their own creative instincts. The kit also includes Web-based palettes for quick color referencing and a sample request program.
Recently, PPG's PITTSBURGH PAINTS brand launched the PPG Color Work Station, a new retail palette display having an integrated 42-inch digital touchscreen work station. The new display includes more than 1,700 colors both new as well as old ones.
The display also offers large, designer-sized take-home color strips, coordinated palettes and magazine-like color cards which make the selection of colors easier. The PPG Color Work Station also provides a more organized display that enables customers to identify coordinating colors. The Core Colors station includes more than 1,300 colors in large 4-inch by 7-inch take-home chips while the Harmony Colors station provides customers with options ranging from color selection to color coordination by offering 295 stand-alone colors.
